B-NK GmbH Büro für nachhaltige Kompetenz (Consultancy for Sustainable Competence) is engaged in research and consulting processes within ecological, economic, social dimensions of sustainability. The fields of interests and experience include the integration of gender and diversity perspectives in science, engineering, technology, urban, transport and landscape planning, mobility research, as well as, sustainable development. B-NK is specialized to take a gender and diversity perspective into account – also in apparently gender-neutral areas like engineering and technology, town, landscape and transport planning, mobility research, science, environmental research and sustainability.
In planning and communication processes as well as in technology research and development projects B-NK points out the relevance of gender and diversity and develops action-oriented solutions towards gender equality and quality management. B-NK is engaged in diversity management, gender mainstreaming, and focusses on the implementation of these political strategies towards gender equality into practice. The expert knowledge in the field of planning and technical science is supplemented by a systemic approach and well-established scientific research.
Within its research projects, B-NK applies qualitative and quantitative methods, such as focus groups, expert interviews, and online surveys. When evaluating the data gained, B-NK often works computer-aided (Atlas TI and SPSS 17.0). When developing action-orientated results, such as recommendations and guidelines B-NK often applies participatory methods, such as user-experience-workshops, stakeholder-dialogues, process-facilitations and interactive workshops. B-NK is also familiar with planning and designing methods, such as analysing social space, community work participation in the context of technology use as well as urban and transport planning.
Since establishing her company, Bente Knoll as founder and managing director has managed over 30 projects. She took part in over 10 national and international project consortiums. Bente Knoll is a highly qualified project manager, social and gender expert. In all her projects, she has fulfilled beside of project management tasks also several key expert positions, mainly concentrating on research and communication tasks such as
• Development of gender sensitive quantitative and qualitative methods
• Technical and scientific steering of a research projects
• Gender sensitive stakeholder process development
• Communication with various stakeholders and target groups
• Development of action-orientated recommendation for implementation of gender equality
Bente Knoll is also member of the board of the Austria network and association WIMEN - Women in Mobility & Energy, Environment Network www.wimen.at.
