The IARA - Institute for Applied Research on Ageing - is set up as an interdisciplinary (technology, social science, economy) research institute with a focus on developing and evaluating technical solutions and services for the older generation. We include expertise in all steps of a AAL product development lifecyle.
IARA hosts researchers with expertise in social sciences (psychology, sociology, care sciences, therapy), technology (electronics, sensor networks, medical informatics, UX-experts) and economy (business and national economy) as well as socio-technological evaluation (acceptance, sQoL evaluation)
IARA follows a strict user-centred, participative approach and has well developed user-involvement strategies as well an existing living lab (including infrastructure - lab, demo-appartements, external labs)
IARA is lead of the Austrian AAL pilot region SMART VITAALITY (smart-vitaality.at) and is part of more than 10 AAL relevant projects in parallel - which shows the experience in integration existing technology packages in real-testing environment in older people's homes and evaluating them in a multi-domain approach (UX, acceptance, efficiancy, sustainabililty)
