The National Research and Development Institute on Occupational Safety (INCDPM) is, since 1951, the policy maker on OSH and environmental issues though participation in the elaboration of the national strategies in the area; substantiation of the major directions of development closely correlated with the European strategies and provisions; development of practical solutions, technical assistance to reduce / eliminate the occupational risk factors and helping companies to improve the work conditions; implementing the OSH management systems, integrated in the general management system, at the enterprises level; ergonomic optimization of the activities and workplaces; developing national and European partnerships etc.
Since 2001, INCDPM is hosting the Romanian Focal Point of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, from Bilbao, Spain, thus contributing to the collection and dissemination of OHS data based on the tripartite principle i.e. Government - employers' organisations - trade unions bodies partnership.
