Civic Computing (CIVIC) was established in 2001, in Edinburgh, Scotland and is one of the largest suppliers of digital work to the Scottish Government. CIVIC is known for innovation in product development: we were first to develop a Java CMS over 10 years ago (Content Control), we were first to market a solution for compliance with EU legislation on Cookies (Cookie Control), and we recently launched on a new social media tool (Ffora) targeting mainly youngsters seeking personalised content.

CIVIC is a Red Hat Partner and has received the following accreditations:

- ISO 27001: The ISO 27001 acknowledges CIVIC's best practice across digital and web-based communications and in particular recognises our quality assurance and Information Security Management System (ISMS).

- ISO 9001: In recognition of our Quality Management System the NQA has awarded CIVIC the ISO 9001 accreditation for web services and online marketing.

- RAR - Recommended Agency Register: Only agencies which have been highly rated by at least three of their clients in the last 12 months become Recommended Agencies.

One of the main customers of CIVIC is SQA (sqa.org.uk), the Scottish Qualifications Authority which is the national accreditation and awarding body in Scotland. They work in partnership with industry, universities, colleges and schools to provide high quality, flexible, relevant qualifications and assessments - embedding industry standards where appropriate.

One of CIVIC's products the Cookie Control (www.civiccomputing.com/cookie-law/index), deployed among other at SQA and the Scottish Government won the DADI award (www.dadiawards.com). Cookie Control is the leading solution for compliance with the EU law on cookies and the award recognises Civic's extraordinary achievement in reaching out internationally from a relatively small Scottish base.

With a wide range of services, Civic can serve as a single point of reference for:

CIVIC's primary goal has always been to work with customers in identifying opportunities to exploit technology for business advantage and create value.  Our mission is to sustain and enhance our expertise to deliver solutions and services which contribute to the success of our Customers and at the same time to actively help our society improve through healthy use of ICT with focus on youth and issues that concern them.

As a full service digital agency, our delivery process is governed by a quality management system that incorporates project / campaign evaluation and feedback of continuous improvement our key services.

Since our inception, we have added to our collective knowledge and learned valuable lessons along the way. Dealing with public and third sector clients who are more than anyone accountable to their stakeholders has taught us to maximise value and return on investment in a demonstrable way.

By remaining technology agnostic, we can make subjective decisions for our clients and prospects by not favouring one platform over another.

We favour open-source technologies meaning clients are never tied into a costly licencing agreement and have the ability to augment or replace functionality quickly and easily.

The main lesson we have learnt is that there is no one size fits all and our user-centric design process means that we ensure that every stakeholder is accommodated and their needs met.

For the operational management of our projects, CIVIC follows a custom project management methodology based on PRINCE2/Agile but aligned to the nature of CIVIC's projects.

The financial management is characterised by a thorough and completely transparent way of documenting project costs per distinct category in alignment to the funding instrument of each project.

Today, CIVIC numbers 18 staff members.
