Previous projects activities

EBM R&D department took part in several projects at national and international level:

  • ENRICHME - Enabling Robot and assisted living environment for Independent Care and Health Monitoring of the Elderly (www.enrichme.eu) - Horizon2020 - role: coordinator - The project is aimed to oppose the progressive decline of cognitive capacity in the ageing population by proposing an integrated platform for Ambient Assisted Living with a mobile service robot for long-term human monitoring and interaction.
  • CHROMED - Clinical tRialsfOr elderly patients with MultiplE Disease (www.chromed.eu) – FP7 project – role: coordinator - The objective of the CHROMED project is to evaluate the impact of adopting a health and lifestyle status management system to support elderly patients with a combination of chronic diseases involving respiratory and cardiovascular systems. A large scale clinical trial was implemented to develop and evaluate clinical protocols and organizational models based on the new technologies in order to improve both quality of life and healthcare costs associated with these patients.
  • CHRONIOUS - An Open, Ubiquitous and Adaptive Chronic Disease Management Platform for COPD and Renal Insufficiency (www.chronious.eu) – FP7 project – role: coordinator - CHRONIOUS proposes an adaptive and ubiquitous chronic disease management system that offers continuous monitoring to patients by using several sensors either in a form of a wearable solution or scattered in the patient´s living environment and a series of intelligent services to healthcare providers and organisations that aid them in the monitoring of their patients. Any trait of abnormal health status and possible alerting incidents are detected by CHRONIOUS Intelligence. The system generates alerts in case of invalid medical data or if current activity and behaviour lay outside the well-established activity patterns and locomotion behaviour.
  • FEARLESS - Fear Elimination As Resolution for Loosing Elderly’s (http://www.fearlessproject.eu/) –AAL project – role: testing site - The overall aim of this project is the reduction of barriers, which impedes the mobility of elderly people, often suffering from dementia or light loss of cognitive activities through a single sensor unit connected to a monitoring platform.
  • I-DONT-FALL - Integrated prevention and Detection sOlutioNs Tailored to the population and Risk Factors associated with FALLs (http://www.idontfall.eu/) – CIP project – role: technical partner - The main goal of the I-DONT-FALL project is to deploy, pilot and evaluate a range of innovative technological solutions for fall detection and prevention management. The project will develop and evaluate a platform, which enables the prevention and detection of falls.
  • Safe Home – funded by Regione Veneto - role: technical partner - The purpose of the Safe Home project was to develop a technology solution that would allow a significant reduction in the risk of domestic environments in order to ensure to persons with disabilities the enjoyment of their home. All this has been accomplished by going to integrate three subsystems: 1) home automation system for the minimization of the limitations due to disability; 2) management system in home security and burglar; 3) telemedicine / telecare and communication systems.
