ecotopias is a an end user organization committed to assisting private and public research institutions to test  novel technology-based products and concepts within healthcare and clean-tech with our highly motivated and interested end-users.

ecotopias  is short for: european citizens open for evaluating novel technology opportunities for achieving pervasive health and wellbeing in an independent, active, and sustainable life.

This is ecotopias main mission: To be the leading end user organization and test partner in Scandinavia for national, Scandinavian, European, and international technology partnerships.

ecotopias have end users in all age groups and in  most social class categories. We have families and singles who would like to test your exciting new products within ambient assisted living, pervasive healthcare, clean-tech, home automation, communication and mobile technologies, and related areas. We have entire living quarters who are interested in testing large scale "future living" products, as well as families and singles wanting to test equipment.

ecotopias have researchers attached from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital. This provides us with access to nursing homes and hospital environments, beside private homes, as well as dedicated public smart home living labs.

ecotopias' members are committed to test new technologies during longer periods, at no cost, opening up their lives and their homes for your novel technology products. We only require that the equipment be handed over to our organization after evaluation, as we would like our members to borrow the device for a longer period after testing, or donate equipment to the less fortunate children and elderly in our society.

Also, ecotopias have members who are willing to participate in workshop meetings as part of a participatory design process, or other user driven processes. This typically requires some form of compensation for travel expenses. We have professional researchers attached from university who may facilitate this work.

ecotopias members and staff are all volunteers and will not require any salary for their services. However, in order to participate in a research project, we expect a fee of at least EUR 5.000 to be paid for administrative purposes, including external accounting and for covering meeting expenses. Also, we expect to be considered for co-authorship in any published papers involving results originating from our organization.

ecotopias has project leaders who speak Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English, and German fluently.

Finally, ecotopias is willing to assist with writing new proposals and developing concepts and ideas. We have massive experience with national and international projects, including European Community framework projects and beyond. We have a large network of small Scandinavian companies and research institutions which we would be happy to connect you with in order to find suitable and eligible Scandinavian and European partners. However, we do require a consultancy fee of EUR 70 per hour for our assistance in this respect. Also, in case a proposal is successful, we require a win bonus of EUR 500 to be paid to cover our expenses.
